Stoop Symphony

Some people took up marathon running or sidewalk drawing in the pandemic. I took up documenting the ever talented cello symphonist, Saul Richmond-Rakerd, as he played solo shows from his front stoop in the Panhandle. The shows brought out people from the neighborhood and beyond, who were happy to just sit and listen to Saul’s music. Looking back, it’s a time capsule to a complicated, but also inspiring time.

Kamika’s Letters

Kamika turned the pain of incarceration into spoken word poetry to uplift her community. With brothers, uncles, cousins and her own mother all serving time, Kamika felt it was her mission to prevent the next generation of youth from falling into the same system that trapped her loved ones.

Kamika’s Letters was distributed on NowThis and seen by hundreds of thousands of people.

The film screened at the first presidential forum held in a former penitentiary, Justic Votes Townhall, where Kamala Harris, Cory Booker and an audience of formerly incarcerated people discussed how to fix our broken criminal justice system.

Turning Free-Wifi into a conversation starter

We’ve all stepped into a cafe that’s lively and filled with conversation. It’s electric. But when the only thing you hear is the clacking of keyboards and the frequent “hey, what’s the wi-fi code?” it kind of makes you wonder if we’re connecting to technology at the cost of everything else. We made this on a weekend and landed on Canadian National News shortly after.

If you run a cafe and are interested in trying this hmu!
